Arrive in Delhi in the morning by train or air. Start your day by exploring the grandeur and legacy of Mughal history at Red Fort, which is a symbol of India. Walk around grand courtyards and royal chambers as your guide tells you stories of emperors and their dynasties. Then head straight up to Chandni Chowk, which is the heart of Old Delhi. Try taking a traditional rickshaw ride down the bustling, colorful lanes, packed with intense sounds and smells. And you must not miss a few mouthwatering street foods like parathas, golgappas, and jalebis from old-age shops. After lunch, spend an afternoon visiting Raj Ghat, a dignified memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. After this, proceed to India Gate, memorialized for the Indian soldiers, and go on a short walk outside in the gardens around it. Drive through the imposing Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament House, both known for their colonial architecture. Spend your time at the Lotus Temple, famous for its design and tranquil, quiet environment. If there is time, you may visit Agrasen ki Baoli, an ancient stepwell nestled within the busy streets of the city. This stepwell is characteristically distinguished by its semi-circular stone structure. Return to the hotel and rest for the night.
The next day, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Qutub Minar Complex, should be your first stop! The height of the minaret, combined with an array of ancient structures including the Iron Pillar, provides valuable information about early Indo-Islamic architecture requirements and accommodations. Next visit Humayun's Tomb, constructed in Persian style in red sandstone and white marble. Explore the perfectly symmetrical Mughal designs on display in the Char Bagh gardens, which are said to have inspired the Taj Mahal. Then proceed to Lodhi Garden, where you'll explore tombs of the Sayyid and Lodi dynasties, set amidst lush landscaped surroundings, and also has a duck house. The garden blooms throughout the year with all the seasonal flowers. Then head to Safdarjung Tomb (one of the last few Mughal structures left), which is so peaceful and less crowded and also perfect for capturing the most beautiful sunset. If you are a museum enthusiast, go to the National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum (Crafts Museum), located in Pragati Maidan; this gorgeous museum has art collectibles such as traditional Indian crafts. After that, continue to Dilli Haat, shop for handcrafted items, and taste the street food before finishing your tour.
