The first thing to discover is the Jaisalmer Fort which is also called Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort. It is one of the few surviving living forts of the world and it is a place with several families, old Jain temples and a royal palace. Explore its small golden-colored streets, which are full of tales of chivalry and history, and have magnificent views of the Golden City on the ramparts.
Patwon Ki Haveli:- 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM
Enter the big Patwon Ki Haveli, a complex of five detailed constructions of a prosperous merchant family. The interiors feature beautiful mirror work, superb wall paintings as well as elaborate jharokhas (balconies). This architectural masterpiece is a perfect example of a mix of Rajput art and Mughal influence, which gives us an idea of the luxurious life of wealthy life of Jaisalmer in the past.
See the rare Nathmal Ki Haveli which was built by two architect brothers who worked in different directions giving a very interesting asymmetrical structure. There is elaborate carving, miniature painting and exceptional craftsmanship on the facade of the haveli, which combines the Rajput and Islamic styles.
Salim Singh Ki Haveli:- 12:00 PM - 12:20 PM
Look at the beautiful Salim Singh Ki Haveli that is characterized by the unique peacock-shaped roof and elegant arched windows. The Jaisalmer architecture and its magnificence can be traced by this 300 year old mansion that is still partially occupied.
Relax in the peaceful Gadisar Lake with a ring of ghats, temples and heritage buildings. Have a peaceful stay at the water or just take a short boat ride and feed the fish and absorb the serene beauty of this historic reservoir.
Sam Sand Dunes:- 04:30 PM - 07:30 PM
On the way to Sam Sand Dunes the urban environment is replaced by the enormous Thar Desert with its gold-colored dunes. Have a wonderful camel ride or jeep safari (optional) to view a spectacular sunset on the sand. In the evening, later, you will experience Rajasthani culture through a performance of folk dance and dinner by the sky of the desert stars.
End your day by visiting the colorful markets of Jaisalmer with their full stock of Rajasthani fabrics, leather products, silver and mirror-work crafts, and woven carpets. You should not pass on trying local snacks such as Kachori, Mirchi Bada and Sweet Gawar, which are available in the stalls and cafes around it.
