You start by seeing the pacing capital of India, Delhi. The next day, you will land and can have a rest and acclimatize in your hotel. Once you have time, a brief evening ride would also help you become acquainted with the colonial-era architecture of Connaught Place or the serene greenery of Lodi Gardens.
Move eastwards into the foothills of Rajasthan, to the Aravalli group, Alwar, in the late morning. Alwar has an old city dominated by the giant Bala Qila fortress that is a mosaic of narrow lanes, bustling markets and silent temples. The haunting remnants of the Siliserh Lake palace are used in memories of the ancient glory of the royal retreats.
An early morning dawn lands you at Sariska located in one of the best tiger reserves of Rajasthan. The next activity is lunch after which a safari is taken in the dry deciduous forests that are home to elusive tigers, chital deer, and colourful peacocks.
Having had enough of the forest, you are in Neemrana, a splendid hill top fort of the 15th century turned into a heritage hotel. Stroll among its renovated chambers, courtyards and terraces, all revealing the ancient royal life.
Enter the outdoor art gallery in Shekhawati, Mandawa, where the frescoes of the havelis are in a superb state of preservation. All the walls are a canvas telling the stories about mythology, romance and folklore in the form of rich and vividness. Go through the Mandawa Fort museum to have a peep into the artifacts of ancient wealth and nobility of merchants.
It makes a short trip to Jhunjhunu, which features well decorated havelis in which the art of craft has been nurtured over the years.
