Itinerary

01

DAY 01 - Morning

Your half day tour in the city of Jodhpur begin with a pick up at your hotel or point of arrival. The Mehrangarh Fort is the first point of call and it is a magnificent fort that stands at 400 feet above the city and it has panoramic views of the blue-painted houses down below. You will be impressed with the delicate latticework of the fort, the spacious halls, and ancient cannon still located on the ramparts as you awalk through its massive gates and inner courtyards. The indoor museum displays royal palanquins, costumes, and weapons and shows you the glimpse of the glorious past of the city. It is not only an architectural wonder but also a site where seemingly each stone has its own story to become aware of.Then you will be brought to a serene Jaswant Thada, a wonderful marble tomb dedicated to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The detailed carvings and white marble domes are mirrored in a small lake near it, turning it into a serene retreat against the noise of the city. You can also admire the fine craftwork and the serene gardens around which the cenotaph is situated as you stroll around. This is why this place is usually named the Taj Mahal of Marwar because of its splendor and its silent beauty.

DAY 02 - Afternoon

Following the historic sites, your tour proceeds to the vibrant Clock Tower Market, the streets of which are filled with shops selling brightly coloured textiles, spices, handicrafts and antiques. Being here is an ideal location to enjoy the tastes and shades of a local life. The smell of new spices is in the air, bright Rajasthani cloths are suspended in the entrance of the shops, luring you to bring a piece of Jodhpur back home. Even without a shopping prerequisite, the market is full of photogenic scenes and an energy that can give representation to the city. The half-day will end by taking you back to your hotel or as you started out. It is a short tour though it will leave you wanting more of the royal history, architectural splendour, and the teeming life of the streets of Jodhpur, and with wonderful memories of the Blue City.
